The only path to mastery.

Difficult task.

If you learn something from simple examples, that’s great! But stopping at the simple means not developing at all. Examples include: an author always writes a script for a holiday in the same vein; the musician plays the same part always; an artist paints pictures in the same style and technique; a singer only performs what’s easy for him, etc.

You understand what I mean, right?

We all need a challenging task to develop. An easy task is only good at the beginning. And then be sure to make it more complicated.

After all, what is dangerous about a weak task? Because it’s simple.
Achieving a goal quickly will significantly boost your confidence, but solving a task with ease also poses a threat to further development.

Let’s say you’ve never performed on stage and don’t have the required level of instrumental proficiency. You set goals:

a) learn to play something
b) perform in front of an audience.

Let’s imagine you’ve learned a piece on the synthesizer, and it wasn’t that difficult for you. Now you need to decide on the second step. If this is as easy for you as learning to play, then set your goals higher. Not just to play in public, but to play as part of a concert with other bands, to a larger audience, to get involved with the group, to gather people, to work with them at rehearsals, to create your own group.

Moreover, for some people all these tasks will be at the kindergarten level, while for others they will be a stressful situation.

Therefore, you need to select individually.

Because only a challenging task helps us grow. We develop only when we struggle to start, continue, or finish something.

EXAMPLES OF SERIOUS TASKS:

— when there’s no turning back (you have to play, the organizer has added you to the list of participants, and you don’t want to ruin your relationship with them)
— when time is running out (you have to play or sing tomorrow)
— when you’re in a rut (tough challenges will help you come to your senses)

A real challenge should frighten you; it should be so daunting and impossible that it’s hard to even start.

But you have to start.

I wish you to desire more and not settle for less.
