and finally the fourth component! ta daaaa
There are four main components to a musician’s career. Without even one of them, your professionalism plummets. If all three are present and highly developed, you’ll thrive and reach the next level.
You must be aware of these components to understand why something isn’t working. We’ve covered three components and are now ready to tackle the most important part: sales.
4. Selling services.
In the music business, your project is the “cow” that produces the “milk”—your songs.
The QUALITY of the cow and how HEALTHY the milk is that it produces can be used to judge its demand and popularity.
A cow that is well-fed, healthy, and produces more than its daily milk yield will have excellent results.
A cow that is thin, sick, and produces no milk at all will have no results.
If all is bad, then you first need to nurse the cow, achieve excellent milk yield, and only then think about the options presented below. But for those who are doing well, it’s time to start using one or more sales tactics.
You have several options for managing your cow, and therefore your milk.
1. You can “sell the milk separately” (selling songs and music on online audio stocks).
— It’s possible that the cow is weak, or maybe there’s none at all, and you’re simply producing synthetic milk (writing alone, lyrics and songs without a team).
Such works may be in demand, but only for advertising, closed communities, etc.
2. You can “sell the whole cow” (a contract with a single producer, club, or bar).
— Take your “Burenka” (a cow) and herd her into a stall (the stage), where milkers (the audience) will come and pay to drink their fill of the “milk” (your songs).
3. You can “rent out a cow” (temporary performances in different venues)
— We move the “cow” around different stalls, giving her the opportunity to drink milk, but in limited amounts.
4. You can let the cow calve (launch a new parallel project)
Tips for “farmers”)))
Don’t forget to feed the cow the best feed and vitamins (read and study related topics yourself and with colleagues).
Parasit her in the most fragrant fields, feed her hay, straw, and grass (learn yourself and your team, come up with new and interesting ideas).
Provide her with adequate stalls (choose themed venues).
Enjoy the fruits of your labor, and give milk to those who thirst!
