Self-Analysis for the Beginning Guitarist

Many people want to learn something, gain knowledge, skills, and abilities in a previously unknown field. But few consider what this will bring to their lives. Perhaps this isn’t what you’re looking for, or perhaps you’re hoping to gain social connections, new acquaintances, status, attention, etc. through this activity.

Here I’m providing questions related to learning guitar, but they are essentially applicable to any topic in which you want to develop.

If you carefully consider these questions, you’ll be able to discover your TRUE goal and understand that achieving it can be achieved in many ways: not just through mastering an instrument or learning in general.

Answer these questions and understand that without deep self-analysis, you shouldn’t start any project. You need to understand WHY you’re spending precious time on what you want to do.

  1. Why should you start learning?
  2. What will the acquired skill give you?
  3. Organize all the factors influencing your decision.
  4. Decide why you need to play the guitar.
  5. Why this particular skill?
  6. What prevented you from learning to play or at least trying earlier in the past?
  7. Why do you want to play the guitar now?
  8. What results do you hope to see in the future?
  9. What dreams do you have about acquiring this skill?
  10. Which method of information processing is most understandable to you?
  11. What amount of knowledge is sufficient for basic learning? (When should you move on to practice?)
  12. How much time per day will you need to devote to studying?
  13. What strategy will you use to develop?

I hope these questions help you! And most importantly, the answers!
