Have you ever had this experience where you seem to be working towards a goal, doing everything right: plotting a route, writing a plan, taking consistent actions every day, but somehow, you’re just not getting any closer? You know what you need to do, but you can’t seem to achieve what you need or want.
It could be anything:
learning to play the guitar
learning the basics of a programming language
becoming a speed reader
etc.
Something’s getting in the way, and it’s not procrastination or laziness, and certainly not a lack of desire, but a lack of results. You simply know WHAT to do and WHEN to do it, but WHY you’re doing it is unclear. Usually, it’s just that.
You write music, but you have no idea what the result will be.
You draw beautifully, but you don’t know what the finishing touch will be.
You work, you earn money, but you have no idea why or for what purpose.
You start a family, but you don’t see the end result.
JUST WHAT WORKS OUT, WORKS OUT.
I used to achieve results in exactly the same way:
I learned to play guitar without a clear end goal.
I composed a bunch of parts for various pieces (arrangements), but I didn’t pay attention to the final outcome.
I studied vocals, completely unaware of where and when I would apply it.
In general, I didn’t even know where I could apply these and other skills.
Then everything changed…
If you sing, or are learning to sing…
If you’re learning a musical instrument or creating amazing tracks…
If you’re working day and night on a music project…
If you’re gathering a group of like-minded people…
Ask yourself, before you begin your painstaking and resource-intensive work:
Why am I doing this?
What will happen at the end of the training?
What will I have achieved?
What should the positive, negative, and mega-cool outcome be for me?
How will I be different from my former self? What will this give me? What are the advantages?
And finally,
Ask yourself, do I really need what I’m doing now or planning to do?
I wish you to find the very thing you can master and be happy with the results!
